KABUL: The Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has launched an office in Kabul to coordinate humanitarian efforts in Afghanistan with foreign organisations.Muhammad Saeed Al-Ayash has been named director of the OIC's Afghanistan office, it said.

It was noted that the office opened on March 4th. The OIC's office will monitor the execution of the outcomes of the organization's extraordinary ministerial conference held in Pakistan in December, according to the OIC.

"The OIC's humanitarian assistance with Afghanistan and foreign partners will be coordinated by the OIC's Kabul office." In accordance with the resolution adopted at the extraordinary ministerial conference on the situation in Afghanistan, it would be bolstered with people and material resources."This is to allow it to fulfill its duty to assist the Afghan people in a variety of ways," it stated.

A draught resolution was passed at the OIC summit on Afghanistan in Pakistan to establish a humanitarian trust fund to channel humanitarian aid to Afghanistan."Establish a Humanitarian Trust Fund, under the auspices of the Islamic Development Bank, to serve as a vehicle to channel humanitarian aid to Afghanistan, especially in conjunction with other international players," the member nations decided. During the conference, the OIC asked the Islamic Development Bank to put the trust fund into operation by the first quarter of 2022 in order to speed up the delivery of humanitarian aid to Afghans.
