Kabul: With the Taliban's occupation of Afghanistan, Islamic State (IS) has stepped up attacks on Shia Muslims. The terror group is openly threatening Shia Muslims that wherever they live, they will be found and killed.  Earlier, Shia Muslims have been attacked in mosques in Kandahar and Kunduz provinces.

According to media reports, the threat, published in the Islamic State weekly Al-Naba, has targeted Shia Muslims to their homes and centres. Islamic State Khurasan has called Afghanistan's Shia Muslims dangerous. The Islamic State has said they will kill Shia Muslims everywhere from Baghdad to Khurasan. In fact, Khurasan, IS, has been the biggest threat to peace in the country since the Taliban's rule began in Afghanistan.

On 15th October this month, a gurudwara was attacked in southern Afghanistan. With this, a Shia mosque full of worshippers who arrived at the prayers on Friday was attacked by suicide bombers. At least 47 people were killed and 70 others injured in the attack. The ISIS-K had taken responsibility for the attack. It was then that the Islamic State issued a warning against Shia Muslims.
