CHENNAI: Light to moderate rain has been predicted for various portions of Tamil Nadu by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), including coastal regions and places near the Western Ghats.
The South West Monsoon had grown feeble across the state, as per the IMD, hence most of the state would have dull weather. There was no special system that would provide widespread rainfall in the state, said IMD.
It said, the wind was blowing over the northwest Bay of Bengal and toward the low-pressure region that was close to the shores of West Bengal and Odisha. Officials from the weather service claim that this has contributed to a weak monsoon in Tamil Nadu this week. In the upcoming days, Chennai, the state capital, is anticipated to experience thunderstorms and lightning, as well as mild to moderate rain.
The weather stations in Nungambakkam and Meenambakkam recorded a high of around 34 degrees Celsius, it said. Westerly wind speed changes, according to weather department officials, caused sporadic rainstorms in a few areas of the state.
It should be mentioned that the state has so far received 46.1 cm of rain, 62 percent higher than the southwest monsoon average. The majority of the state, with the exception of Kannniyakumari and Karaikal, has received more rain than usual, according to weathermen in Tamil Nadu.
It's interesting to note that whereas Karur Paramathi reported a maximum temperature of 35.8 degrees Celsius, Thoothukudi obtained a maximum of 38.4 degrees Celsius, which was four degrees above average.
