JERUSALEM – The Israeli Health Ministry said in a statement that the mandatory quarantine period for persons who have tested positive for Covid-19 has been reduced.

As a result, the Director General of the Ministry, Nachman Ash, opted to reduce the quarantine term from ten to seven days, on the condition that no symptoms developed in the final three days of isolation.

According to news report, the Ministry has undertaken culture tests on 80 Omicron patients in recent weeks and discovered that the possibility of producing a live virus after seven days of illness is only 6 percent. The new rule will take effect on Thursday, according to the Ministry.

"We will not impose quarantine beyond what is required to safeguard health, as well as the economy, education, and culture, and to make life as normal as possible," Israeli Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz said.
