Jerusalem: Israeli security forces have demolished the residence of Mohammed Dayef, the mastermind behind the October 7, 2023 terrorist attacks in the southern part of Gaza. His identity card was discovered at the site, along with a tunnel and a concealed area for weapons and ammunition. Dayef, leader of the Al Qassam Brigade, the military wing of Hamas, is accused of orchestrating the attack, resulting in over 1200 casualties and the hostage-taking of more than 200 people, including women and children.
Dayef, who survived the Israeli operation, has a history of involvement in attacks against Israel. The Israeli army selectively targets terrorists, and Dayef is among those being pursued. He was not present during the raid on his house, and Israeli forces found his Palestinian identity card, revealing information about his family. A tunnel was also uncovered on the premises.
Born in 1965 in Khan Younis, Gaza, Dayef joined Hamas at the age of 25 after affiliating with the Muslim Brotherhood. Trained by Yahya Ayyash, known as Hamas's 'engineer,' Dayef engaged in various incidents in Israel. Despite being targeted multiple times by Israeli security forces and surviving severe injuries, he remains a prominent figure in Hamas. Reports suggest that Dayef, wheelchair-bound since 2014, is still alive and in better condition than initially believed.
