Israel: Aviv Kohavi, the Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces, visited Bahrain for the first time on Wednesday. According to the IDF, Kohavi visited Tal Kelman, the military official in charge of the Iran file, as well as other senior commanders.

According to the IDF, Kohavi was received by Bahraini Defense Forces Chief Theyab bin Saqr al-Nuaimi. He was also due to meet with Bahrain's Supreme Defense Council Secretary-General, Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, and other senior military and state leaders. Despite the fact that it was an official visit, Kohavi was not photographed in a military uniform by the state-run Bahrain News Agency.

Kohavi will also meet with Brad Cooper, commander of the United States Naval Forces Central Command, US 5th Fleet, and Combined Maritime Forces, at the fleet's headquarters, which is stationed in the area, during his visit to the Gulf.

The IDF chief's first official visit takes place nearly two years after the two countries concluded normalisation accords. Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Defense Minister Benny Gantz also paid their first official visits to the Gulf state last month.
