Israeli soldiers murder a Palestinian close to Bethlehem

Ramallah: Territories: Late Monday night, Palestinian officials reported that Israeli soldiers shot and killed a Palestinian whose army was suspected of throwing petrol bombs close to the occupied West Bank city of Bethlehem.

The 20-year-old Zakaria Mohammed Al-Zaoul was "martyred by live occupation (Israeli) bullets to the head, in the town of Husan," according to the Palestinian health ministry.

The Israeli military claimed that when "a suspect hurled Molotov cocktails" at its soldiers, who were "on routine activity" in the city to the south of Jerusalem.
"Live fire was used by the soldiers in response. A hit was found, the statement continued.

The military reportedly used live fire, tear gas and stun grenades during the clashes with young Palestinians, according to the official Palestinian news agency Wafa.

At least 165 Palestinians, 21 Israelis, a Ukrainian, and an Italian have died this year due to acts of terrorism related to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, with Zaoul's death being the most recent.

The list, which was compiled from official sources, includes both combatants and civilians as well as three Arab minority members from Israel.
Since Israel invaded the West Bank in 1967, Palestinian towns and cities have frequently been the target of patrols and raids by its armed forces.
