Damascus: Israel launched airstrikes near Damascus, injuring two Syrian soldiers, according to early Wednesday reports from the Syrian state news agency SANA.
According to SANA, which cited a military source, "at around 00:25 at dawn, the Israeli enemy carried out an air assault with missile bursts from the north of the occupied Syrian Golan, targeting certain positions in the vicinity of Damascus."

The agency stated that "the aggression wounded two soldiers and caused material damage," adding that the majority of the missiles were shot down by Syrian air defense systems.

According to the war monitor Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the strikes targeted military positions close to the airport in the town of Dimas as well as the Beirut-Damascus highway west of the capital.

The NGO, which has a vast network of insider sources in the war-torn nation, claimed that the strikes also hit militant Hezbollah warehouses.

According to the Observatory, the incident marked the 20th Israeli raid so far this year.
Israel reportedly conducted airstrikes earlier this month close to the Homs government-held city, according to SANA.

Israel has conducted hundreds of airstrikes on Syrian territory over the course of the country's more than ten-year conflict, primarily focusing on Iranian-backed forces, Lebanese Hezbollah fighters, and Syrian army positions.
