New Delhi: The second mission 'Chandrayaan-2' of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on the moon has been successfully launched  Chandrayaan-2 was launched by the country's most powerful Baahubali rocket GSLV-MK3 at 2.43 pm on July 22. The 48-day journey of Chandrayaan-2 to reach the south pole of the moon has begun.

About 16.23 minutes later, Chandrayaan-2 will be separated from the GSLV-Mk3 rocket at an altitude of 182 km from the Earth and begins to orbit the Earth. The Chandrayaan-2 spacecraft will orbit around the earth from July 22 to August 13. It will then travel in a long orbit leading to the moon from August 13 to 19 and will enter the moon's orbit only on August 19.

Then, 13 days, by August 31, Chandrayaan-2 will circle around the moon. Then on September 1, Vikram Lander will depart from the orbiter and begin its journey towards the south pole of the moon. After a 5-day voyage, Vikram Lander will land on the south pole of the moon on September 6. About 4 hours after landing, the rover will land from the Phirnan Lander to conduct a separate experiment on the surface of the moon.
