ISRO wants woman astronauts in Gaganyaan mission in 2021

India will launch its first manned space mission, Gaganyaan, in late 2021. ISRO Chief K Sivan on Friday shared the detailed plans for 2019 and also listed what it did in 2018. He also informed that organisation want to include the women astronauts in the team.

K Sivan briefing media on Friday said that the preparations for Gaganyaan Mission are underway and it will be a major turning point for India's space agency. Sharing details about the upcoming unmanned mission, ISRO Chief K Sivan said that that the target for two unmanned missions to space is December 2020 and July 2021. He also confirmed that ISRO's target for a crewed mission to space is December 2021.

During press conference K Sivan also said that there aim is to include the women astonauts in the mission. "Women astronauts will be there on the team. That's our aim," added K Sivan.

ISRO Chief also added that the initial training for Gaganyaan mission would be done in India, and advanced training may be in Russia. Talking about bring Indian students to ISRO inspite of Nana, he said,"We will set up six incubation and research centres across the country. We will bring the Indian students to ISRO. Why do the Indian students need to go to NASA?"
