New Delhi: Former West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar has become the 14th Vice President of India today. He was administered the oath of office and secrecy by His Excellency President Draupadi Murmu. Jagdeep Dhanankar took oath as the Vice President of India in the presence of all the big leaders including the PRIME Minister at the swearing-in ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Nitish Kumar, former Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, former Vice President Hamid Ansari, Home Minister Amit Shah and several Union ministers and dignitaries were present at the swearing-in ceremony. Earlier on Tuesday, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla hosted Venkaiah Naidu and his successor Dhankhar at his residence. Naidu and Birla shared their perspectives and experiences with Vice President-elect Jagdeep Dhankhar on issues of national interest and parliamentary affairs, the Lok Sabha Secretariat said in a statement.

Ahead of the swearing-in ceremony, Jagdeep Dhankhar paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat. Jagdeep Dhankar was born on May 18, 1951, in Kithana, Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan. Dhankar's early education took place in the government secondary school of Kithana village. After the fifth grade, he was admitted to the Government Middle School in Gardhana. Thereafter, he also studied at Sainik School in Chittorgarh. Dhankhar is a graduate in Physics. After this, he completed his law studies from Rajasthan University. Dhankar started his practice from the Rajasthan High Court. He was also the chairman of the Rajasthan Bar Council.
