New Delhi: Violence broke out in northeast Delhi's Jahangirpuri area after stone-pelting in a procession taken out on Hanuman Jayanti on Saturday. The Delhi Police has detained 15 suspects in connection with the incident. Yes, many policemen were injured in this violence. Let me tell you all that the police told that during the violence at 6 pm, there was stone pelting and some vehicles were set on fire. In fact, additional security personnel have been deployed in Jahangirpuri and other sensitive areas and Delhi Police's Public Relations Officer (PRO) Ayesh Roy said, "It was a traditional procession taken out every year on Hanuman Jayanti.''
Roy said that when the procession reached Kushal Cinema, there was a clash between the two communities, and stone-pelting was also done. In fact, he said that the policemen deployed along with the procession intervened and brought the situation under control but due to stone pelting, some policemen were injured and were taken to the hospital for treatment. Roy also said that the situation is under control. All senior officers are on the spot. Since it is a sensitive area, an additional police force has been deployed.
On the other hand, Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana warned of strict action against the rioters and urged citizens not to pay heed to rumours and fake news on social media. In fact, he tweeted that the situation in the northwest district is under control after the incident. Adequate security personnel have been deployed in Jahangirpuri and other sensitive areas. Senior officers have been asked to remain in the area and closely monitor and patrol the law and order situation.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said, "This incident is highly condemnable and appealed to everyone to maintain peace. The Lt Governor has assured them that all steps are being taken to ensure peace and the culprits will not be spared.''
