Lucknow: The Yogi government of UP has denied the claim of forcing students of a madrasa in Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh to shout slogans of 'Jay Shri Ram', saying the news was misinterpreted to tarnish the image of the government. Principal Secretary, Information, Avanish Awasthi has admitted that the clash took place when the children were playing cricket, but they have denied forcing students to shout religious slogans.

He further said that the news has been misinterpreted to tarnish the image of the state government and disturb communal harmony. According to the report, when the children went to play cricket after reading prayers on Thursday afternoon, four people thrashed them and pressured them to speak 'Jay Shri Ram'. The children's clothes were torn and their bicycles were smashed.

The children then returned to madarsa and reported the entire incident, after which the police were informed. According to the imam of jama masjid, a group of Bajrang Dal people were involved in the incident. Police have registered a case and they have also been identified from the Facebook accounts of the accused. The accused have reportedly identified themselves on their social media accounts as members of the Bajrang Dal. However, no arrests have been made in this case so far.
