There is going to be one more economic hit on the disintegrated users of the state who are falling victim to poverty in the Corona period. The electricity bills of the next three months of electricity consumers are going to increase. This increase will be done in the name of fuel surcharge. Jaipur, Jodhpur and Ajmer of the state will recover about 600 crore rupees from consumers through discom fuel surcharge. It is being told that due to this, every electricity consumer will get an economic burden of about 200 to 800 in the next 3 months according to their electricity consumption.

Fuel surcharge is going to be recovered at the rate of 30 paise per unit based on the meter reading of the Vighat between October 2019 to December 2019 from the three discom users. Actually, the Electricity Regulatory Commission fixes the rate every year after calculating the expenditure including power purchase. In this, the Commission determines the electricity tariff in the form of variable cost along with fixed cost. This variable cost includes diesel transportation and other expenses including coal. Regulatory commission has instructed consumers to recover it. It was done in the initial year 2009. The calculation of fuel surcharge will change every 3 months.

Be aware that during the Corona period, the state government had postponed electricity bills for the first 2 months to give relief to the people of the state. This gave partial relief to the consumers. But the era of Corona is not over yet. In such a situation, the amount recovered by discoms is going to be heavy on consumers.
