Bengaluru:   A lot is happening in the political corridors over by the statement made by Home Minister Amit Shah on the occasion of 'Hindi Diwas'. Especially the states of South India are strongly opposing it. Meanwhile, senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Jairam Ramesh have also jumped into the debate. On the debate of adopting Hindi as the language of the entire country, he said that it is beyond reality. Rajya Sabha MP Ramesh said that some forces are attacking him every day to tarnish and destroy the legacy of former PM Jawaharlal Nehru.

He said that "if Nehru's ideas were abandoned, the idea of India would end. The former Union Minister started his speech by addressing the Governor, Chief Minister and other dignitaries in English, Kannada, and Hindi. He said that I spoke in three languages in a minute, only to give you a message. He said that we can have one country, one tax, one country /one election but under any circumstances, we cannot have "one country one culture, one country one language".

Amit Shah on Saturday advocated the adoption of Hindi as the common language of the country, after which discussion on the issue started, various political parties in the south said that they would oppose any attempt to 'impose' the language. The Congress also said that fresh controversy should not be raised on the 'sensitive' issues which the Constitution has resolved. Shah had said that diversity of language is the strength of India but a national language is needed so that foreign languages and cultures do not dominate the language and culture of the country.
