Madurai: Joviality and gallantry marked on the occasion of Jallikattu on Monday at nearby Palamedu, which is well known for the bull-taming sport. This event left 11 participants injured, as per reports of police officials.

Jallikattu spectacle was Inaugurated by Tamil Nadu revenue minister RB Udhayakumar in which participation of around 1,000 bulls and hundreds of sportsmen registered in which a large number of spectators also thronged Palamedu, one of the famous spots for Jallikattu in the district along with Alanganallur and Avaniapuram cheered participants.

Tight security with the deployment of 1,200 police personnel has arranged, police said. This comes as a surprise because The sport was held in the presence of the members from the Animal Welfare Board of India and other officials.

All 11 injured competitors were straight away treated at the medical camp put up at the spot and sent home.
