NEW DELHI: An official reported on Friday that a student from Jamia Millia Islamia was shot by another student inside a hospital in the nation's capital.

The incident occurred late on Thursday at the Holy Family Hospital in southeast Delhi, the official said.
A Police control Romm call was received at Jamia Nagar police station regarding a quarrel at Jamia University Library inside Jamia Millia Islamia University.

Following an investigation, it was found that two groups of students got into a brawl "Esha Pandey, deputy commissioner of police for the southeast, said. 

One student, Noman Chaudhary (26), a second-year LLM student, suffered a blunt head injury in the event and was sent to Holy Family Hospital for treatment.  Another student Nauman Ali, a friend of Noman Chaudhary also paid a visit the hospital to see him.

According to the DCP, "in the interim, one student of a rival gang by the name of Zalal, a resident of Mewat, Haryana, came to the Hospital accompanied by his friends and fired at Nauman Ali outside the Emergency department within Hospital Campus."

Nauman Ali was shot during the incident, suffering a minor scalp injury. He was sent to the AIIMS Trauma Center right away. The official declared that he was suitable for the statement.

"In the meantime, a Delhi Police crime team investigated the scene of the shooting. At the police stations in Jamia Nagar and New Friends Colony, legal action has been taken as a result "the representative stated.
