New Delhi: The Central Government is facing a lot of criticism after the scrapping of Section 370 from Kashmir. A section of the media, in particular, is very vocal about the media's counter-allegations. But the Government has got a relief. In fact, the Press Council of India has filed a petition in the Supreme Court supporting the Centre and the state government. The petition was filed against a petition filed by Kashmir Times Executive Editor Anuradha Bhasin in which he said that journalists are not being allowed to do their job.

They have a right to work. In a petition filed on Friday by advocate Ansuman Ashok, the PCI upheld the restrictions imposed on the media saying that appropriate restrictions can be imposed on the media in view of security concerns. The PCI said that while Bhasin's petition has raised concern over the rights of journalists for free and fair reporting on the one hand, there is a national interest in integrity and sovereignty.

The council, therefore, feels that it should present its view before the Supreme Court. The Press Council of India further said that Bhasin's petition did not mention the repeal of the most controversial provision of the Constitution by Parliament, which has put some restrictions on the media. Some foreign media groups had negatively shown the situation in their reports.
