Jammu: 13 students of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University present in Katra, Jammu and Kashmir have been found infected with corona infection. The university has been closed till further orders after students were found to be infected with corona. Reasi's chief medical officer at Vaishno Devi University said the corona examination of the students was conducted on December 31, 2021.
He said 13 students were found to be infected with corona due to the corona test. The officer said 13 corona cases were registered in the Reasi district on Saturday. Reasi collector Charandeep Singh has issued instructions to the university management to close the campus for the time being till further orders keeping in view the safety of the students. It may be recalled that 169 new corona cases were registered in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday.
Of these, 68 cases were recorded from Jammu while 101 cases were recorded from Kashmir. 107 patients recovered from corona infection here on Saturday. Two patients died of corona yesterday in the Union Territory. There are 1397 active cases of corona in Jammu and Kashmir, including 470 in Jammu and 927 in Kashmir. On the other hand, coming to the cases of the Omicron variant, there are 3 cases of omicrons. The number of persons infected with this variant across the country has gone up to 1525. Maharashtra and Delhi have the highest number of cases of omicrons. The cases of omicron variants in Maharashtra are 460. While 351 in Delhi, 136 in Gujarat, 117 in Tamil Nadu, 109 in Kerala, 69 in Rajasthan, 67 in Telangana, 63 in Haryana, 64 in Karnataka, 17 in Andhra Pradesh, 20 in West Bengal, 14 in Odisha, 9 in Madhya Pradesh, 8 in Uttar Pradesh, 8 in Uttarakhand, 3 in Chandigarh, 3 in Jammu and Kashmir, 2 in Andaman and Nicobar, there is 1 case of omicrons in Goa, 1 in Himachal Pradesh, 1 in Ladakh, 1 in Manipur and 1 in Punjab.
