New Delhi: The issue of delimitation is likely to be discussed at an all-party meeting of 14 leaders of 8 political parties convened by PM Narendra Modi on June 24 amid the corona crisis. According to sources, apart from the Prime Minister, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, JAMMU and Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha, NSA Ajit Doval, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister PK Mishra, Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla and some other top officials are likely to attend the meeting.

The same will be considered as the beginning of the delimitation process in the state along with this meeting. In a way, wide consultation is being launched to take forward the democratic process in the State. The delimitation process may be a little long. After this process, the election process can start in Jammu and Kashmir only after preparation of new voter list and correction therein. It may still take a year for the election process to begin in Jammu and Kashmir.

Delimitation will take place only under the law of the country and the standards laid down by the Government of India. According to sources, there is no proposal for any discussion at present on giving statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. The all party meeting of 14 leaders will also discuss the ongoing development works in Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting may also discuss the issue of resources and comparative development of the state. The all party meeting may give details on the situation of roads, electricity and water comparatively from the rest of the state in the state.
