Intelligence agencies received information about the hiding of terrorists in Harigam village, after which the security forces surrounded the village and conducted a search operation.

When they saw the cordon tightening, they started firing on the security forces. Just before this, the terrorists attacked the police post in the downtown area of Srinagar on Friday night. At the same time, three people including two soldiers were injured. After the incident, a search operation was conducted in the entire area. The terrorists fired a grenade targeting the police post at Noorbagh in Safakdal area on Friday, the evening of 24 January 2020. The grenade fell on the road and exploded. During this time, one jawan of CRPF and police was injured. At the same time, a citizen passing through there was also injured due to shrapnel. According to the information received, all the injured were admitted to the hospital. After the incident, security forces surrounded the whole area and conducted a search operation. Vehicles were checked at various places. The operation continued till late night.

Abu Qasim was killed in an encounter with security forces in Pulwama district on Wednesday. He was associated with Jaish-e-Mohammed. The terrorist killed there was identified on Friday. It was active in terror-hit South Kashmir under the name of Abu Saifu Lla and Abu Qasim. Abu Saifu Lla was active in Tral and Khriv area of Avantipora for more than one and a half years. He was a close associate of Jaish chief Qari Yasir, who was killed in Kupwara district in July 2013.
