Srinagar: One Indian soldier was killed in a cross-border firing by Pakistan. One civilian was also killed in the firing. Pak resorted to heavy firing targeting residential areas in Poonch Mankot, Krishna Ghati and Kirani sector. Four Army jawans were also injured in the firing. Several houses in Dabraj village have been damaged in the heavy shelling. Two government schools were damaged in Kirani. The Army has retaliated.

According to an army spokesman, Pakistani troops and posts have suffered heavy losses in retaliation. An Army spokesman said, Nayak Ravi Ranjan Singh killed in the firing, a resident of Gop Bigha village in Rohtas district of Bihar. His wife, Rita Devi, is in the family. At around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Pakistani troops started firing mortars targeting army posts in Krishna Valley and Mankot sector as well as rural areas.

Meanwhile, a Pakistani side shell exploded near an army forward post in Mankot area, seriously injuring the hero Ravi Ranjan Singh. Fellow soldiers fired from the middle of the shelling and rushed them to the headquarters. From there, he was airlifted to Army Hospital Udhampur where he died. In Dabraj village, the 22-year-old son of Fakirdin, Mohammad Karim, was also killed when a shell hit him. In Pakistan, a large number of Pakistani army personnel were reportedly killed in retaliation by the Indian Army. Pakistan frequently resorts to firing on the LoC to infiltrate terrorists.
