Political parties in Kashmir united against Centre, will oppose gov't

Srinagar: Local political parties in Jammu and Kashmir will oppose any move by the central government that tampers with the present state. The political parties have taken a unanimous decision to oppose any such move unitedly. He said, he will oppose any move to scrap the constitutional provisions that guarantee special status or to try to divide the state into three parts.

PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti, NC leader Omar Abdullah, Taj Mohiuddin (Congress), Muzaffar Beg (PDP), Sajjad Lone and Imran Ansari (People's Conference) Shah Faisal (J&K People's Conference) met at the meeting held at the home of National Conference President Farooq Abdullah on Sunday. NC President Farooq Abdullah said, "It was unanimously resolved that all political parties would fight together to protect the identity, autonomy and special status of Jammu and Kashmir from any kind of attack." That change would be an attack against the people by abolishing Article 35A and 370, unconstitutional delimitation and dividing the State into three parts of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. ''

The resolution was adopted at the meeting as the meeting was held in Gupkar area of Srinagar. During the meeting, political parties have urged India and Pakistan not to take any step that increases tensions in the country. He also appealed to the people of the state to maintain peace.
