Srinagar: Three policemen have been suspended following the suspicious death of a youth in the Rajouri district of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, police said on Sunday. The young man was returning to his home on Lohri, but suddenly he went missing from the way. Two days later, his body was handed over to the family, but instead of performing the last rites, the family blocked the road, leveling serious allegations against the police. After this, 3 policemen were suspended. The post-mortem of the young man's body is being conducted. The investigation of the case is going on.

According to the report, the police have informed that the deceased Sher Singh (23) was a resident of Dugal village in Kalakot sub-division of Rajouri district. He used to work as a laborer in Sunderbani. Sher Singh was returning home on Thursday to celebrate the Lohri festival when he suddenly went missing. His body was later handed over to the family for last rites. However, the family refused to perform the last rites. Following the suspicious death, the family blocked the road demanding action against the policemen.

According to the relatives of the deceased, they received information on Friday that Sher Singh was lying in an inebriated state in Seot. However, the policemen took him to the police station instead of taking him to the hospital. Kalakot Additional Deputy Commissioner Krishan Lal and Nowshera Sub Divisional Police Officer Tuseef Ahmed have assured a fair investigation and legal action in the case.
