J&K: Terrorists attack BSF convoy, encounter arises

Srinagar: Militants have once again tried to target security forces in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Militants attacked a Border Security Force (BSF) convoy on Thursday. An encounter between security forces and terrorists has begun after the terror attack. Security forces are said to have cordoned off three terrorists.

The militants reportedly launched a BSF operation against the militants when they opened fire on the jawans. The attack on a BSF convoy took place on the Srinagar-Jammu highway near Malpora Qazigund in south Kashmir's Kulgam district. No casualties have been reported in the attack. Meanwhile, security forces have cordoned off the terrorists after the attack and the encounter between the two is continuing. Three terrorists are also reported to be trapped.

Kashmir IGP Vijay Kumar confirmed the attack in front of the media. He said the convoy of BSF in Kulgam has been attacked by terrorists. There have been no casualties. However, the militants have been cordoned off by security forces and an encounter between security forces and terrorists is continuing. He said senior police, CRPF, and army officials have reached the spot.
