Srinagar: Two local civilians were injured in firing by an army personnel in Handwara town of Kupwara district of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday afternoon, who have been admitted to a nearby hospital. According to the information, in a market in Handwara town, there was an altercation between the army personnel and the people over some issue. In this heat, an army soldier opened fire. Two people were injured in this incident due to bullet injuries. Both the injured were taken to the hospital. The condition of the injured remains stable.

At the same time, former Jammu and Kashmir CM and JKPDP supremo Mehbooba Mufti has condemned the incident. Mehbooba tweeted that I condemn the incident that happened in Handwara today, in which 2 civilians were injured after a dispute with the army. This is the interference of the Government of India in religious matters. Improper monitoring of a simple act of praying reveals that the illusion of 'Naya Kashmir' is costing Kashmiris dearly.

Let us tell you that Handwara of North Kashmir comes in the very sensitive areas of the valley. Recently, there has been a clash between terrorists and security forces in this town. Last year, terrorists had injured CRPF personnel in a grenade attack here.
