Srinagar: Two Indian Army personnel have been killed in a counter-terror operation in the Poonch district of The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir since the evening of October 14, 2021, as part of a terrorist operation. The firing took place on Thursday evening in an ongoing encounter between militants and security forces in Nar Kha's forest, Mendhar sub-division of Poonch district.

Rifleman Vikram Singh Negi and rifleman Yogbar Singh Veergati received during the operation. The two army personnel were seriously injured amid heavy firing from both sides. Indian Army rifleman Vikram Singh Negi and rifleman Yogbar Singh showed exemplary courage and devotion and attained valour. Rifleman Vikram Singh Negi, 26, is a resident of Viman village in Tehri Garhwal, Uttarakhand.

Rifleman Yogambar Singh Chamoli, 27, is a resident of the Pokhri district of Uttarakhand. The operation is currently underway. The encounter between militants and security forces in Poonch district triggered an exchange of fire from both sides on Thursday evening. A junior circle officer (JCO) and a jawan were seriously injured during this time. Jammu-Poonch-Rajouri highway has been closed due to ongoing operation. Elaborate security arrangements have been made in the area for the encounter.
