Jammu: Recently, 2G services have been restored in 10 districts of Jammu and Kashmir. The same social media ban will continue. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary Rohit Kansal has said that Internet services are being restored in 10 districts of Jammu region. At the same time, on Saturday, 18 January 2020, he said that 2G internet services are being restored in Bandipora and Kupwara of North Kashmir. Broadband services have been fully commissioned in banks of Kashmir Valley. The Chief Secretary said that along with the service of voice calling, SMS services have also been started.

Ban on pre-paid connections also removed: According to information received from sources, it has been learned that Chief Secretary Rohit Kansal said that now the ban has also been lifted from pre-paid connections in the valley. Significantly, the Central Government introduced the Jammu and Kashmir State Reorganization Bill in Parliament on 5 August. On the same day, a resolution to remove Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir was also passed. A day before this, on August 4, telephone and mobile services were stopped in the entire state.

Mobile and telephone services gradually restored: It is also being said that on the questions arising then the central government had clarified that telephone and mobile services will be restored gradually if the situation becomes normal. The same thing happened in the state and gradually in several stages the administration restored landline and mobile services. Telephone services were started on landlines in some areas earlier. Later, the scope gradually increased and now calling, SMS and Internet services have been restored with ban on social media.
