Srinagar: Keran village of Jammu and Kashmir will be able to watch PM Modi's speech live on TV for the first time after 73 years of independence. For the past 73 years, 12,000 family members used to get only three hours of electricity through generator sets in the evening of 6 to 9 pm in Keran village. This will be the first time when the village will have electricity in the morning on Independence Day.

According to a report by NDTV, State-based Kupwara District Collector Anshul Garg informed that since last year, we worked on the mission mode in the border area and completed our target within the stipulated time frame. Collector Garg said that not only electrification but roads are also being repaired. Located on the banks of the Kishan Ganga River, Keeran is cut off from the Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir by about six months per year due to winter. Garg said that this year the Border Roads Organization (BRO) completed the construction of roads before winter.

Kupwara district shares a 170 km border with Pakistan. There are five assembly constituencies and 356 panchayats. A high official of the Jammu and Kashmir administration has told that, 'The maximum voting is done in all elections in this region'. According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, there has been a lot of development in the last one year not only in the border district but also in the union territory.
