Srinagar: Security forces have gunned down terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba commander in an encounter in Anantnag in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The slain Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander has been identified as Nisar Dar. IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said that a search operation is currently underway in Sirhama area.

A search operation is also being carried out in Kulgam on behalf of the security forces. Here too, there is an input of terrorists being hiding. IGP Kashmir said, "Last night, we launched an operation against terrorists in two districts of Kulgam and Anantnag. One Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist has been killed so far in the Anantnag district. It was a local terrorist. No terrorists have been found in Kulgam so far, but the possibility of the terrorist hiding is being investigated.'' He further said that a total of 45 terrorists have been killed so far in three months this year. Out of which 2-3 are very big commanders. Military operations against terrorists will continue.

In Jammu and Kashmir, two militants of banned terror outfits Ansar Ghazwatul Hind and Lashkar-e-Taiba were killed in an encounter with security forces in the Tral area of Pulwama district on Wednesday. A police official said the terrorists have been identified as Safat Muzaffar Sophie alias Muawiya of Ansar Ghazwatul Hind and Umar Teli alias Talha of LeT.
