Army and police have recovered 19 grenades in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district today

Srinagar: Police and army have taken major action against the terrorists in Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir adjoining LOC. A large quantity of asalhas have been recovered from here. In Jammu and Kashmir, 19 hand grenades have been recovered by security forces from a militant hideout in Poonch district on Sunday. The national spokesperson said "Security forces and police foiled the nefarious designs of anti-social elements who disturbed peace and maintained peace in Poonch region on Sunday morning".

The Indian Army's Rashtriya Rifles and Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a "joint operation" in Fagla area of Surankot in Poonch, Jammu, after receiving intelligence inputs stating that terrorists were planning to target security forces on NH-144A (on Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch highway). The two agencies launched a joint operation after receiving inputs in which they, as per information, found a large quantity of grenades in the general area of Fagla. A total of 19 hand grenades have been found from there. 

This is the second time in the recent past that such explosives have been recovered in Jammu and Kashmir. According to a Saturday news agency report, security forces had recovered 40 kg of explosive material, five litrepressure cooker improvised explosive devices (IED), five inch iron pipe IED, four electrical detonators, electric wires, power sources, six heavy cells, insulation tape and 1.5 kg iron pieces in Chakrandi village of Doda district.
