Srinagar: The impact of the strike called by separatists in Jammu and Kashmir is visible on the Amarnath Yatra. The Amarnath Yatra has been suspended for a day due to the strike by separatists. This will prevent the Amarnath Yatra from going ahead. The pilgrims were not allowed to enter Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. The separatists in Kashmir have called a one-day strike.

Meanwhile, the security forces are on alert in the wake of the separatists' call for a strike. Security has been tightened in the valley. The security forces are keeping an eye on the slippers. Earlier, on the occasion of the anniversary of Hizbul commander Burhan Wani on July 8, separatists protested and stopped the departure of a group of devotees for the Amarnath Yatra. Terrorist Burhan Wani along with two of his associates was killed in an encounter with security forces in Kokernag area of Anantnag district on July 8, 2016.

Meanwhile, the Amarnath Yatra was also seen to be politicised. People's Democratic Party (PDP) President and former Jammu and Kashmir CM Mehbooba Mufti had said that the security arrangements for the ongoing Amarnath Yatra are against the people of Kashmir. She had said that security arrangements for the annual Amarnath Yatra are causing inconvenience to the voice of Kashmir.
