Srinagar: Militants attacked a police party in Srinagar in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday. A police inspector Arshad was shot several times in the attack in the Khanyar area of old Srinagar after which he has been admitted to a hospital. According to preliminary information, police have cordoned off the entire area and launched a search operation immediately after the militants attacked the police party.

It may be mentioned that terrorists have been carrying out their activities in Jammu and Kashmir for quite some time now. Sometimes they target and kill local leaders, sometimes they attack army and police personnel. The jawans are also actively engaged in eliminating the terrorists. At the end of last month, the country's intelligence agencies issued more than 10 alerts of the terror attack within 15 days. All alerts feared infiltration and terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir through Pak-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

In Jammu and Kashmir, army personnel is continuously conducting operations to pile up terrorists. At the end of last month, the army had a major success in Sopore. Three terrorists were gunned down by security forces in an encounter between jawans and terrorists.
