SRINAGAR: India Meteorological Department (IMD)  issued a forecast for rain and thunderstorms in Jammu & Kashmir for the next 72 hours from Thursday.

Some areas in Kashmir have partially overcast weather. The weatherman predicted sporadic thunderstorms and showers in J&K for Thursday's late afternoon and evening.

The union territory may get isolated periods of rain or thunderstorms from March 17 to 20, along with strong gusts, said the IMD. MeT reported that Leh and Kargil in Ladakh both had lows of minus 3.6°C and minus 4.9°Centigrade
Farmers were instructed by the meteorological service to postpone spraying orchards during the following three days.
The nighttime temperature in Jammu, the winter capital, was 15 °C, which is around 1 °C above average.

The minimum temperature in Srinagar, the summer capital of J&K, was 5.5°C on Wednesday night, which is about 1.8°C higher than average. Srinagar reached 23.1°C on Wednesday, which is 8.4 degrees above average.

The Meteorological Department predicted a noticeable rise in daytime temperatures last week.

A low of 1.5°C was recorded last night at the ski resort of Gulmarg in the Baramulla district, which is around 4.8°C warmer than average. The nighttime temperature in Pahalgam, a popular tourist destination in the Anantnag area, was 0.8°C, or almost 2.0 degrees above average.
