Jammu: Several parts of the country have undergone drastic changes in the recent past, while the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and the Union Territory of Ladakh Joint High Court have been renamed as 'Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court.' An order in this regard was notified on Friday. President Ram Nath Kovind has signed the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Prevention of Difficulties) Order, 2021 to take effect this change.

The same order states that the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019 was enacted to reorganize the State of Jammu and Kashmir to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and the Union Territory of Ladakh. "The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Union Territory of Ladakh has a big joint high court name, so it has been moved to the Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court, which is on the lines of other common High Court names, such as the Punjab and Haryana High Courts.''

At the same time, views were sought from the Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Ladakh, and the Chief Justice of the High Court, on which the Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, through a note dated October 27, 2020, and the Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Ladakh, on October 20 Through the letter dated 2020, it had agreed to the proposed change in the name. It is said that the present name of the court is much longer. In order to simplify it across the country and like the High Court, the name has been changed, which is as easy as the normal High Court other than convenient.
