SIGNIFICANCE OF JANMASHTAMI

It is beloved that Krishna is eight Avatar of Lord Vishnu who took birth to defeat the evil. Krishna killed his Maternal uncle Kansha ( a demon) to discourage the evil. This festival delivers the message of defeating evil and spreading love and harmony.

HOW JANMASHTAMI IS CELEBRATED

People celebrate this festival with great enthusiasm and joy. Devotee observes fast on this day and eats only fruits and Falhar. People also perform Krishna Abhishek and dress his idol in new and beautiful clothes. People also sing Bhajans of Lord Krishna and dance on them.

The return of Mahabali: Onam

The one of the most entertaining thing about this fest is ‘Dahi Handi’ in which people hang a pot filled with Dahi (Curd), Makhan and Mishri to the certain height and makes a human pyramid to break it. In some part of India, it is celebrated on the next day of Janmashtami. People celebrate Dahi Handi as lordLordshna love to eat Makhan (butter).
