Japan to grant new residence status to skilled workers in 14 sectors

The Union Cabinet of India on Wednesday approved an MoU between India and Japan on a mechanism for cooperation between the two countries to facilitate the employment of skilled Indian workers in 14 specialised sectors in Japan.

The current Memorandum of Cooperation would set an institutional mechanism for partnership and cooperation between India and Japan on sending and accepting expert Indian employees, who’ve certified the required talent and Japanese language check, to work in fourteen specified sectors in Japan. These Indian employees can be granted a brand new standing of residence of “Specified Skilled Worker” by the Government of Japan.

Under this MOC, a Joint Working Group might be set as much as comply with up the implementation of this MOC. The Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) would improve people-to-people contacts, foster mobility of employees and expert professionals from India to Japan.
