On Thursday, a Special Task Force (STF) trooper allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle in the Naxal-affected Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh. Police officers of Dantewada district told on Thursday that STF soldier Ramaram Swamy shot himself in Potali camp under Aranpur police station area of the district.

Regarding the matter, police officials said that the soldiers of the camp heard the sound of firing in the barrack. When he went there and saw Ramaram was lying there in critical condition. He said that the soldiers of the camp gave information of the incident to their officials and Ramaram was taken to the hospital, where the doctors declared him dead. Post mortem of the dead body is being done.

In his statement, the officials further said that information has not been received in this regard as to why Ramaram committed suicide. He said that in November last year, a camp was established for Chhattisgarh Armed Forces, DRG and STF at Potli in Dhur Naxal affected Aranpur. Police officials said that Ramaram was a resident of Chala village in Sikar district of Rajasthan. His family has been informed about the incident.
