An Army jawan convicted of murdering four fellow soldiers at the Bathinda Military Station in April 2023 has been sentenced to life imprisonment and dismissed from service by a General Court Martial (GCM). The court martial, conducted at the Bathinda Military Station since January 2024, found the accused guilty of the murders and additional charges of theft of weapons and ammunition.

Case Details

The GCM, led by Colonel S. Duseja, convicted the jawan of four counts of murder under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code and two counts of theft of government property under the Army Act. The court's decision, which includes a life sentence and dismissal from service, is pending confirmation from superior military authorities.

In April 2023, the accused was arrested for the deaths of four soldiers from the 80 Medium Regiment of Artillery. Initially, he falsely claimed that masked individuals were responsible for the murders. During the investigation, he admitted to the killings, stating that he had been sexually assaulted by the victims over an extended period, leading him to seek revenge.

Additionally, the accused alleged that the victims had used his mobile phone to communicate with his fiancée, taken compromising photos of her, and mocked him.
