The counting has begun for the Jayanagar Assembly constituency elections in Karnataka, held on June 11. Sowmya Reddy, Congress candidate is on a lead from Karnataka's Jayanagar assembly constituency according to the fourth round of counting.

Initially, Reddy led with 5348 votes, which was followed by BN Prahlad, the candidate from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The election was commanded after the death of the sitting MLA and BJP candidate B.N. Vijayakumar, who was from the same seat. Presently, the party has let his brother B.N. Prahlad hold the lead.

The Janata Dal (Secular) (JD-S), on June 5, decided to aid the Congress party after retreating its candidate Kalegowda from its constituency.

Sowmya Reddy, daughter of R. Ramalinga Reddy, the former state minister of Karnataka.

The counting for 222 seats had already concluded out of the 224 assembly seats in the Karnataka on May 15.

The BJP appeared as the single largest party in the state assembly of Karnataka with 104 seats, while the Congress and JD(S) acquired 78 seats and 37 seats respectively.

After the over-rated, high-political drama in the state, the Congress and the JD(S) joined hands and have managed to form their government in Karnataka.
