The youth wing now has a new chairman as Nikhil Kumaraswamy. Meanwhile, A H Vishwanath has stepped down due to the party's performance but reports say he was not happy with the congress. He said, "This is Siddaramaiah's personal commitment, he is not good at politics. Roshan Beg was suspended by the party (Congress), if I had been in the Congress, Siddaramaiah would have done the same to me.
When Vishwanath announced his decision, he had done many of his decisions on Siddaramaiah. He had said that he was unhappy with not being part of the coordination committee of the alliance headed by a senior Congress leader. He said the state presidents of the two coalition partners were not in the coordination committee. The JDS-Congress alliance had also formed an alliance for the national elections in the state, however, the two parties managed to win only one seat, while the BJP was leading in 25 seats.
