Jeep India is hopeful about the domestic auto industry's prospects and plans to introduce new models this year. Despite a challenging year due to the pandemic and a parts shortage, the company saw a 130 percent increase in volume last year.

Jeep India Head Nipun Mahajan told medi that the company expects the market to grow even more despite concerns about the Omicron variant's impact. Last year, the business sold 12,136 vehicles, mostly due to the facelifted Jeep Compass and the locally produced Wrangler. It sold 5,282 units last year, compared to 5,282 the year before. This is due to a 130 percent increase in automobile sales.

Jeep presently offers two models in India: the Compass and the Wrangler. While it has been producing the Compass since June 2017 at its Ranjangaon factory near Pune, it began local assembly of the Wrangler in mid-March last year at the same location. "We are rather optimistic about the prospects due to market resiliency," Mahajan told the media.

He stated that 2021 will see a 20% increase in all segments over 2020, and that the "market will grow (further)." ".. "There will be some disruptions because we are starting with Omicron, but the Indian consumer has the capability and desire to grow the automotive industry." This will aid the market's growth in 2021 "Added he.

Jeep India has already invested $250 million in the development of new products and will continue to do so, according to Mahajan. "We'll be launching two new products in 2022, which will be a big year for us. We'll also be seeing a lot of action on Compass, starting with Compass Trailhawk in February of this year "he stated.
