Blue Origin, an American aerospace manufacturer owned by Amazon’s CEO, Jeff Bezos is testing a landing system to land astronauts on the moon by 2024. Another milestone attempt by the company is it is working on a cargo delivery system aiming to deliver one ton of cargo on the Moon by 2023. Blue Origin aimed for the same goal back in 2017 as well indicating this isn’t a new concept or idea.

A Blue Origin executive had previous clued about the on going work to achieve a lunar mission is officially announced by the company’s chief scientist, Steve Squyres. The professor from Cornell University is also known for working on developing the Spirit and Opportunity Mars. The announcement happened during a virtual event by the University of Washington’s Space Policy and Research Centre. Squyres’ statement confirmed that the 2023 mission will be a test for their bigger plans of sending human beings to the Moon.

To be noted, NASA is on track to set up a base camp and Blue Origin is to be one of its primary cargo supplier. NASA’s Artemis base camp aims to land the first man and another man back on the South Pole of the Moon and the timeline set to land on the lunar surface is 2024. If all is well, then Blue Origin will have placed themselves to be the Amazon for celestial travel and transport packages including spare parts, safety equipment and even crucial life-support systems.
