Jhansi railway station re-named after Rani Lakshmibai

JHANSI: The Jhansi railway station has finally been renamed Veerangana Lakshmibai railway station, after the famed warrior queen Veerangana Lakshmibai. Following consent from the Centre, the state government changed the name of the railway station.

A notification to this connection has been issued by the Uttar Pradesh government and the Railways has began preparations to implement the change, Chief PRO of North Central Railway, (NCR) Prayagraj, Shivam Sharma, said.

Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Railway Station has previously been titled Mughalsarai Railway Station. Allahabad has been renamed Prayagraj, and Faizabad has been renamed Ayodhya. Sultanpur, Mirzapur, Aligarh, Firozabad, and Mainpuri are among the cities slated for renaming. Meanwhile, there have been attempts to change the names of Ghazipur and Basti.

Since coming to power, Uttar Pradesh  Adityanath government has changed names of many establishments including those of Faizabad and Allahabad districts, which were renamed as Ayodhya and Prayagraj, respectively.
