Ramgarh: In Ramgarh district of Jharkhand, the woman was accused of being witch-hunted and brutalized and inhumane. The woman was also threatened with death if she did not leave the village after beating her and feeding her dirty. The case pertains to Katha village under Ramgarh police station area of Ramgarh district.

The entire case has been investigated by the police at its own level and found the charge true and registered a case against Malti Devi under the Dion Bisahee Act, Lochan Mahato, Rupal Mahato, Anand Mahato, Tila Devi. All the accused are said to be absconding at present.

The victim and her daughter said that at around 2 p.m., lochan Mahato, Rupal Mahato, Anand Mahato, Tilla Devi and Malti Devi along with other members of their family came to their house and knocked on the door loudly. As soon as the daughter of the victim, Dr Devi opened the door, all the people broke down on the witch-hunting goddess, grabbed her hair and dragged her to a distance of about 400 metres.

The victim also told her that they had fed the pour goddess, accusing her of being a witch, saying that you are a witch. You are eating our house members. Sometimes you become a cat and sometimes you come into a dog and sometimes you become owls and you are ruining our houses. You have to leave this village and if you don't leave the village, we will kill you.
