Ranchi: For the fourth phase of assembly elections in Jharkhand, voting has started on 15 assembly seats here at 7 in the morning on Monday. A total of 221 candidates, including 23 women candidates, are trying their luck in this phase and about 48 lakh voters will decide their fate. Maximum 25 candidates are contesting from Bokaro seat while the lowest 8 candidates are in Nirsa seat.

From the total 15 assembly seats, three - Deoghar, Jamua, and Chandankiyari seats are reserved for the Scheduled Castes (SC), while the remaining 12 are general seats. There are a total of 47,81,422 voters in 15 seats in Deoghar, Giridih, Bokaro and Dhanbad districts. While polling for 10 seats will start at 7 am and continue till 5 pm, polling for the remaining seats - Jamua, Giridih, Dumri and Tundi will end at 3 pm.

In this phase, 4,296 booths are in rural areas out of a total of 6,101 polling booths. In Naxal-affected areas, 405 booths have been identified as sensitive, while in non-Naxal-affected areas 546 booths have been identified as hypersensitive and 2,665 booths are sensitive. The main candidates are Labor Minister Raj Paliwar, Tourism Development Minister Amar Kumar Bauri, Ragini Singh, Raj Kishore Mahato, and Dhullo Mahato.
