Ranchi: Hemant Soren, the executive president of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and the face of the UPA in the elections, is camping in this small town located about 100 km from Dumka, the administrative headquarters of Santhal Parganas. Hemant, the heir of Shibu Soren, who was awarded the title of Dishom Guru among the tribals is currently fighting a double challenge.

It is being said that on one hand there is a challenge to win the UPA on all 16 seats of the tribal-dominated Santhal Parganas, which is considered to be the stronghold of JMM, on the other hand, it has resolved to win elections on both the seats of Dumka and Barhait. While PM Narendra Modi has landed himself to surround Hemant Soren. Modi has targeted the JMM Congress and Hemant by holding an election meeting first in Dumka and then in Barhait on Tuesday, 17 December 2019.

Victory was decided from both Dumka and Barhait areas: According to the information received, Chief Minister Raghubar Das voted in the name of development by citing the amount allocated by his government to Santhal Parganas for development which was more than his predecessor governments. But while talking to Amar Ujala at his home in Barhait, Hemant says that this time his victory from both Dumka and Barhait areas is certain, as Santhal Pargana now wants the command of the next government in his hands. Former Chief Minister and JMM leader Soren had also contested in 2014 from Dumka and Barhait, but lost to Dumka. Even after this, in Dumka, he will face the BJP's Lewis Fernandes, who had defeated Hemant last time. Lewis is a minister in the Raghubar government and his biggest strength is that the BJP has a solid base in the city.
