Jharkhand: Government is showering favour upon farmers, going to give big gift

Ranchi: Farmers in Jharkhand will now be able to know the technology of agriculture as well as weather forecasts through smartphones. The Jharkhand government is going to provide funds to farmers of the state to buy smartphones. An official of Jharkhand's Agriculture Department said in a briefing on Thursday that the beneficiaries of the Prime Minister's Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana will get an additional instalment of Rs 2000 in Jharkhand.

It may be mentioned that under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana across the country, two thousand rupees are being added to the account of farmers in three instalments, while in Jharkhand, the number of these instalments will be four. The government will put two thousand rupees into the bank account of more than 50 thousand farmers of Jharkhand to buy smartphones.  The government has also allocated funds for the same. This benefit will be available to the farmers who have registered themselves in the National Agricultural Market (e-NAM). State Agriculture Minister Randhir Kumar Singh has said that the government believes that many farmers in Jharkhand are still away from smartphones.

Once the smartphones are made available by the government, farmers will be able to get information on new farming techniques as well as weather forecasts and natural disasters. He said, the Directorate of Agriculture and Jharkhand State Agricultural Marketing Council will coordinate and make the scheme available to the farmers.
