Jharkhand govt's major decision on death of national shooter Konica

Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has directed the Home Secretary and Director General of Police to conduct a high-level investigation into the suspected death of state national shooter Konica Layak. An official release said CM Hemant Soren was met by Konica's father Partha Pritam Layak and Mother Veena Sharma Layak along with Dhanbad MLA Raj Sinha over the suspicious death of a national shooter Konica Layak in the CM's room in Jharkhand Assembly.

He told the CM that the Bengal police in their investigation is describing her death as natural while there is a big conspiracy behind it. Konica's parents and MLA urged the CM to conduct a high-level investigation into the entire case and take strict action against the culprits. The CM assured the shooter's parents that the government would conduct an inquiry at its own level into the death of Konica under suspicious circumstances and the family would get justice. He also asked the Government of Bengal to discuss the matter if required.

It may be recalled that national shooting winner Konica Layak died in a mysterious situation in Kolkata. Konica Layak's body was found hanging from a snare in a room of the Women's Guest House in Kolkata. There was an uproar after this incident. Konica had been in Kolkata for three months and was undergoing training at the Jaideep Karmakar Shooting Academy.
