New Delhi: There was no wastage of corona vaccine in Kerala and West Bengal in the month of May, as well as 1.10 lakh and 1.61 lakh doses of vaccine have been saved in both the states respectively. According to official data, Jharkhand recorded the highest wastage of 33.95 percent of anti-covid vaccines.

According to statistics, Kerala recorded a vaccine wastage figure of 6.37 percent, while West Bengal recorded -5.48 percent. The wastage of vaccine being in minus (-) also means using the additional dose present in each vial of vaccine. With this, 15.79 percent of the vaccine went waste in Chhattisgarh and 7.35 percent vaccine was wasted in Madhya Pradesh. In Punjab, Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra, 7.08 percent, 3.95 percent, 3.91 percent, 3.78 percent and 3.63 percent and 3.59 percent vaccine were wasted respectively.

In India, 38 percent of people above the age of 45 years were given the first dose of the vaccine till June 7. The figure was 92 percent in Tripura, 65-65 percent in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, 53 percent in Gujarat, 51 percent in Kerala and 49 percent in Delhi. Tamil Nadu recorded 19 percent, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh 24-24 percent and Bihar 25 percent.
